Epic win 2 for Seb at Silverstone!

Seb  (orange car 31) dominated the huge 32 car grid from the start of race 2

WRDA member, & current WRDA Young Driver of the Year, Seb Morris blitzed all his rivals again in the final round of the 2012 Protyre Formula Renault BARC Championship at Silverstone on Sunday 7th October. Starting from Pole again as the lights changed to start the race Morris went into a lead he was never to loose, building a lead of over a fast starting Scott Malvern. Unfortunately there was an accident requiring a lengthy Safety Car period to clear away the stranded cars which closed the pack up. At the re-start (left) Seb once again began to build a big lead, after fending off Malverns' initial challenge, and the pair of them began to establish a big lead over the rest of the field. However another Safety Car period late in the race, nullified all of Seb's best efforts, but undaunted Seb made sure he was unchallenged for the remaining 2 laps to seal 3rd place in the Championship in spectacluar style! This time however Malvern took the points for Fastest Lap, but there were scenes of joy on the podium and in the Fortec pits!

" I was really glad the 2nd Safety Car came out, the tyres had started over-heating quite dramatically and there was a big performance drop off”, explained Seb later, “Instead of trying to keep the tyres warm behind the Safety Car, I let them cool down, which really worked out for me over the last two laps."  He then acknowledged the strength of Protyre Formula Renault BARC “It’s been a fantastic weekend, to take two poles and the two wins is the perfect way to round-off the championship and to end the year top three in my first season is incredible”, said the Fortec driver, “If you can win races in BARC Renault I think it shows you can win in anything as it’s so tight. To beat a guy like Scott Malvern makes me feel really proud!

I'd like to say thank you so much to some amazing people, and especially Matt Shawyer, Andy Meyrick and all at Fortec Racing!"  Seb will be back in action next weekend at Spa Francorchamps in the final round of the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup.

Along with headline sponsor Protyre, Formula Renault BARC is additionally supported by Michelin, The Lubricant Consultancy, Petronas Syntium and NGK Spark Plugs.
