Andy
enters Porsche Carrera Cup GB with Team Parker Racing
WRDA member Andy Meyrick, reigning Historic
Group C Champion and Le Mans competitor, is to make his debut
next weekend (11-12th August) in the Porsche Carrera
Cup GB. Andy having seen out his contract with Aston Martin,
will be entered in the Pro category for the remaining five
rounds of the 2012 series with Team Parker Racing thanks to the
invaluable support of Lindberg Optic Design, the Danish luxury
eyewear designers and manufacturers. After
testing the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car he will be racing at
Snetterton, Norfolk, Knockhill in Scotland, Northamptonshire’s
Rockingham and Silverstone, and Brands Hatch in Kent. Apart from
Knockhill Meyrick is familiar with the British circuits thanks
to his years in single-seater racing and he is thrilled to be
racing again in the UK. "
I’m genuinely really excited about this opportunity,”
enthused Andy. “The Porsche Carrera Cup GB is a really class
championship and it always produces some tight and entertaining
racing. It will be tough coming in half way through the year and
racing against some Porsche specialists, but I’ll give it
everything I’ve got. I’m looking forward to doing some sprint
racing again after the last few years in endurance racing, and
it’s been a while since I raced at these UK circuits. It’s a
real pleasure to be associated with Lindberg, representing them
in the UK. I think there’s a lot of synergy between their
company, which produces high-end, luxury fashion eyewear, and
Porsche which holds such a special and iconic place in the
luxury car market. I hope that, through the platform of the
Porsche Carrera Cup GB, I can help bring more exposure to the
Lindberg brand in the UK.”
Andy has raced in North America and Europe
in recent years, and his most recent outing was in the rain
soaked 24 Hours Spa/Blancpain Endurance Series in a McLaren
MP4-12C GT3 for Gulf Racing UK.
