Early Years
Like many drivers Richard has a background in karting. He started age 13 and he won the novice section in his first year - really hit the floor running. Within a year Richard qualified for his 'National A' licence and became club champion for his age range. He competed all round the UK the following year and always made it onto the podium. He came fifth in the JICA Junior Intercontinental A series and took part in the Stars of Tomorrow competition run at Silverstone
He then graduated from Karts to full racing cars in 2006 and entered the Formula Renault (British Auto Racing Club) Championship winning the title in his first season becoming the youngest Welshman to win a significant single seater championship. He was awarded the Most Up and Coming Driver at the prestigious BARC awards ceremony for this, as well as being named the Junior Sportsman of the year for the Conwy Borough region.
As always Richard is supported by his family and in particular his father Paul.
