2008 Welsh Championship - the word is out & drivers are coming in!
Plans for the new style 2008 Welsh
Championship are attracing attention with news items in Motorsport News and Autosport
adding to the support. Already several drivers have thrown their hat in the ring and we
should be having good support in all the class, and it looks like 1601 to 2 litre class
will be strong.The classes are
Class A -Modified Saloon & Roadsports up to 1600 ccClass B -Modified Saloon & Roadsports from 1601up to 2000c.Class C-Modified Saloon & Roadsports over 2001cc. Class D - British Touring Cars & Re-Engined Modified Sports and Saloon Cars. There will be 3 races over the weekend to give the best value for money.CHAMPIONSHIP ROUNDS -The 2008 Welsh Sports & Saloon Car Championship will be contested over 21 Rounds, with 17 to count) April 19/20 Pembrey Standing Start - May 10/11 Pembrey BARC Rolling Start - 28/29 Pembrey BRSCC Standing Start August 2/3 Anglesey BARC Standing Start - Aug 16/17 Pembrey BARC Rolling Start - Sep 13/14 Pembrey BARC Standing StartOctober 11/12 Pembrey BARC Standing Start
Glynne Jones, famous for pedaling a very sideways Ford Anglia in the early day of the Welsh Saloon & Sports Car Championdhip, has re-joined. He said "I approve of the class changes" Lets hope we see some of that sideways style but sadly I doubt if it'll be in the Anglia. Glynne is certainly a character to have around.
