Nissan Newcomers.
Lucas Ordonez and team-mate Lors Scholmer say hello
The welcome inclusion to our series, newcomers Lucas Ordonez and his team-mate Lors Scholmer Lucas in the RJN Motorsport Nissan 350Zs are part of the innovative Sony + Nissan GT Academy highlighting the new Playstation 3 game which runs under the banner "Think you can drive? Prove it. From Virtual to Reality "
Team principle Bob Neville explained. "Over 25,000 gamers played the game on-line, and the fastest gamers from each country all came to Silverstone for the finals. There were 3 from the UK but after an exacting selection process, Lars, from Germany and Lucas from Spain beat the 20 other competitors from across Europe to be crowned the GT Academy champions. The idea is now to train them up over the next four months to earn an International racing license and compete in the Dubai 24hr endurance race in January 2009. They will be paired with a professional driver, but it is going to be an big test of driving skill and stamina. We choose the Welsh Championship because Pembrey is a good technical track, very difficult, so its good training. We are working getting Lars and Lucas used to data collection and feedback. We are running on Pirelli Road Tyres, as they are part of the programme. We will back in October when we may give them a bit more power to play with." Lars and Lucas themselves are real nice guys and were happy to be mixing in with us "Everyone is so friendly" Lars and Lucas were rightly awarded Guest of the Day awards for Sundays races. The whole process will be filmed so hopefully well see the Welsh Championship on TV again soon. For links including the 350Zs in action visit http://www.rjnmotorsport.com/
