Richard Singleton suffered an up and down weekend at Brands Hatch on the weekend in the latest rounds of the 2007 Formula Renault UK Championship. On a double race weekend, Richard posted one of his best practice times of the year on Saturday morning to line up 3rd fastest. However by the time the race came in the afternoon it was raining and this changed the course of the race. Richard lost two places in the first 2 laps before slotting into 5th place behind Adam Christoldoulo.

Unfortunately the lack of overtaking places on the tight Brands Hatch club circuit meant that although there was little to choose between the cars at the end, with Richard had no option but to bring the car home without damage.Sundays practice and race were equally frustrating as Paul, Richards father explained. "The track was drying and Richard missed the best laps. It was just one of those calls. Richard himself admitted he made the wrong choice and should have tried to get in some quick laps early on, instead of trying to come in to adjust the car" However despite qualifying in11th he got a good start but further progress was halted after the car lost power when the exhaust manifold cracked. With the car hobbled Richard could only finish 10th ; a disappointing end to a weekend that started brightly, and he can only hope that his misfortunes have been left behind him. The next rounds in the series are at Donington Park on 8th and 9th September
