Lloyd Banks First Win!

Corwen racer and WRDA member Hwyel Lloyd started his 2007 season off with a bang by winning the first round of the 2007 Formula Renault BARC Championship at Donington Park on Sunday. Driving for the family run CF Racing team, Hywel started from pole position and lead every lap. Afterwards, Hywel who was 5^th in the 2006 championship in his first season of racing, was delighted. "I’ve won races before in Karts, but this was my first race win in cars. It wasn’t that easy, it was quite close in the end. We had set the car up to come good after about 6 laps and I was able to stretch out a good lead before we hit the back-markers." With a giant entry of 32 cars there was plenty of work to do but he was able to maintain his advantage to win by 1.5 seconds over 2^nd place-man Aaron Steele who set the fastest lap of the race trying to catch up. The win sets Lloyd up nicely at this early stage of the season. the next rounds in the 2007 Formula Renault BARC Championship are at Croft on 19/20 May with 2 races over the weekend.
