Hwyel Lloyd increases Renault title lead
Hwyel Lloyd maintained and increased his lead in the 2007 BARC Formula Renault Championship after another a storming performance as the championship reahed its halfway point at Silverstone on the weekend. Taking a 6 point lead over Dean Stoneman into the weekends races, Hwyel was 3rd fastest in practice, but in the first race got locked into race long dice with Stoneman, emerging in 4th place with some battle scars. "It was a tight race, Dean got a bit close and ripped part of my front wing off! I thought it might affect the handling but it was ok so I kept going" Race 2 was better as Hwyel explained "Ive not been getting brilliant starts so we made a few changes and this time I got away well, slotted into 2nd and took the lead into Luffield corner" After that Hwyel concentrated on building a lead and had almost 2 seconds to spare at the end over his main rival Dean Stoneman thereby increasing his points lead to 7 points. Hwyel summed it up "It was a really good, the car was brilliant all weekend"
With half of the season over Lloyd is in a strong position and the next rounds in the 2007 BARC Formula Renault Championship are at Snetterton in Norfolk on 11/12th of August.
