Lloyd banks' more points at Croft
WRDA member Hwyel Lloyd from Corwen continues to lead the 2007 Formula Renault BARC Championship after a fraught weekend at Croft. Lloyd, who won the first race of the 2007 season, was 2nd in practice for the first of the weekends 2 races, but was eliminated from race 1 in a bizarre first lap accident. " I got a good start and was leading until we reached the first major corner! Then one of the other cars missed his braking point, hit the curb and flew over my car, hitting it on the way past and crashed into the barriers! Luckily I only ended up in the gravel trap. My car had some scratches on the side-pod but apart from that I was ok." Hywels misfortune allowed Worswick Racing driver Rossi to win the race, but a strong showing in race 2 put Lloyd back on top. " I got another good start and moved up to 2nd and was lining up to take the lead but there was such a lot of traffic. I couldnt get a clear run"
Hywel eventually finished just over a second behind race winner Dean Stoneman, but he maxxed out his score by taking the extra point for the races fastest lap, and leads the championship by 1 point!
Pre-race concentration-Hwyel gets "in the zone" at Croft- races hard & collects the spoils - Trophy sets the WRDA badge off nicely!
The next race in the Formula Renault BARC series is at Oulton Park on June 16th. UK series visits Croft on 2nd/3rd of June
