Gale Report
Local drivers Anthony Allitt from Neath, Mark Nicholson
from Port Talbot and Mike Woods
from Llanelli are lined up in a good sized entry at Pembrey for the latest
rounds of the Welsh Sports & Saloon car Championship. At the Pembrey last time
18 year old Cardiff driver Nick Jones driving a Proton became the youngest
driver ever to compete in the Welsh Championship. Pole position winner Dave
Krayem and Peter Williams from Brecon, both driving Radical sportscars, staged a
race long duel for the lead. There was a lot of side-by-side racing with places
swapped and traded at will in an intense battles for the lead! Krayem eventually
ran out the winner but with Championship leader Andrew Williams pulling off on
the last lap with fuel pump failure, the chasing pack of Peter Williams, Allitt
and Nicholson have all closed the points gap, with Williams lead cut to 15
points and any further slips from the defending champion could set up another
thrilling champion finale. The next rounds of the championship are at Pembrey on
Sunday August 20th with the final rounds also at Pembrey on 15th
October.
