Tributes to Will Lloyd

Will Lloyd - father to Rhys Lloyd & husband to Eirlys, sadly passed away at home after the Karting evening. Apparently he mentioned to his family that he was going for a walk around the garden by collapsed and died as he was walking! Will Lloyd had been a senior manager with ATS tyres, before retiring and had recently taken up a post on the board of the BARC. Rhodri Jenkins leads the tributes.

Regards from Rhodri Jenkins. Rob, Will was a true gentleman. As you know, Rhys and I have had some terrific battles on the track this year, but after each race it was a real pleasure to talk with his father about what had happened. He was clearly passionate about the sport and delighted with Rhys’s results. If there is anything good that one can say at a time like this, it’s that at least it happened after such a great weekend for Will. Before I even got out of my racing car on Sunday, Will was opening my door and thrusting a stop watch in my face showing me Rhys’s lap times! He had the biggest smile on his face that I have seen for ages! My sincere condolences to Eirlys and Rhys. Regards Rhodri Jenkins

Thoughts for Rhys and His family from John Jones.  Matthew, John and Chris from SLN Racing would also like express our shock and disbelief of this tragic news. It is hard to believe this very sad news, after having a laugh and a joke with Bill and Rhys over the weekend in the paddock and being in the same karting team on Saturday evening chatting about the championship and discussing our tactics for the endurance race. It really is hard to comprehend this news. Bill was obviously a pillar of strength to Rhys and so proud of him at the same time, it's a huge loss for Rhys and family to deal with. All at SLN Racing send their deepest condolences to Rhys and his family during this difficult time. John Jones

Peter and Michael Barnett Thank you for letting me know. I got to know Will during his visits to race control at Pembrey when I was Chief Observer . Please pass on my sympathies to his family. I appreciated his time and knowledge every time we met.

Kind regards from Stephen and Sally Pearcy.  Robert, Please pass our sincere condolences to Mrs Lloyd and to Rhys at this sad time we are deeply sorry for this tragic loss .

Thoughts from Anthony Allitt - I was absolutely stunned and saddened to hear the news of the loss of Will Lloyd , the world is a poorer place and my heart goes out to  Eirlys and Rhys. I remember that Will was always the one who wished everyone luck just before leaving the holding paddock and remember it vividly from Sunday 25th . From all of my family we offer our deepest sympathy . Anthony , Isa , Nicholas and Jodi Allitt xxx

Thoughts from Robert & Marion To all who have posted memories of Will,  thank you for your thoughts. We are all in a state of shock and disbelief, but I know that Wills family and all WRDA members will thank you for taking the time to put you thoughts together. Personally my wife and I will have fond memories, like you all, having shared a table with them at the Awards Ceremony earlier this year.  Robert & MarionAllender
