American WRDA member Jim Llewellyn busy !

Jim Llewellyn who lives in Los Angles, has been busy helping to run two SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) try out events callled 'Track Night in America' events, which Jim dubbed on his Facebook page jim.llewellyn.5, "The Surface of the Sun" tour.

One event was at Willow Springs International Raceway in the desert just north of Los Angeles, and the other was at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park just south of Phoenix. The Temperature at Willow Springs was 100(F) degrees, and the temperature at Wild Horse was 114(F) degrees! i.e 100 F= 37 Centigrade - 114F = 45 Centigrade ie HOT like The Surface of the Sun' !

The aim of the events seems to get more people interested in Track Racing, on controlled  'run what you bring' basis. i.e like a track day, but run by the ASN in this case the SCCA (i.e the American MSA)

"We subscribe to a radical concept that the best way to get people on the race track is to let people get on the race track," said Heyward Wagner, the SCCA director of experiential programs.

With local members on hand to give instruction and more info on starting real racing, it's an interesting concept. It may be a  programme that the MSA might do well to consider here too!
