Seb looks to build on his title lead at Brand Hatch

WRDA member Seb Morris is focused on building his advantage at the top of the BRDC Formula 4 Championship standings when the second event of the 2013 season takes place at Brands Hatch next weekend, 18th/19th May, in front of a big crowd as a support race to the visiting DTM touring car series and the FIA F3 Euro Series on the 1.2-mile Indy Circuit, giving the F4 competitors a golden opportunity to impress at one of the UK’s biggest motorsport events.

“It’s going to be very busy at Brands with the DTM, there will be a lot of people there and it’s going to be great being part of such a huge race meeting – I’m really looking forward to it.  Leading the championship after the first weekend was the most I could ask for, it would have been nice to win a race but it’s the championship that’s the important thing.”

Originally expected to race in a different series this year, Seb didn’t have any true testing and preparation in Formula 4 but still hit the ground running at the season-opener, taking 3 podium finishes and a fastest lap, to lead the championship by 2 points!

Carrying justifiable confidence into Brands Hatch, Seb is determined to try and increase his lead in the championship and battle for his maiden F4 victory. On such a tight and twisty track though, he knows qualifying will be the most important part of the weekend.

“I am feeling pretty confident for Brands, we just need to get the most out of the tyres in qualifying which isn’t something we managed to do at Silverstone – you only have a couple of laps to get your best time on these Yokohamas and you have to pick your laps wisely”, added Seb. “It’s going to be important to stay out of trouble in the races too, on such a short track and with so few overtaking opportunities people can try some optimistic moves. We just need to do what we need to do and try and stay on top of the championship.”

Qualifying for the second F4 event of the season will take place on Saturday, 18th May, at 12.00 with round four following at 15.20. On Sunday, 19th May, rounds five and six are provisionally scheduled for 14.15 and 16.40 respectively.
