Seb Morris now 2nd in BRDC F4  Championship after Snetteron win re-instated on appeal! by web editor Robert Allender

Happy Days for Seb at Snettertons' Senna Straight!

Seb Morris & the Hillspeed team have been vindicated after the MSA Appeal Panel reversed his exclusion from the results of race 2 on Sunday 8th September at Snetterton, after an alleged gurney flap infringement found in post race scrutinering . Quite what effect the exclusion had on Morris at the time is an unknown factor, however he was made to start the 3rd race from 4th place on the grid although he finished 2nd. It is not certain if his win had not been ruled out, whether his fastest lap from race 2 would have put him further up the grid for race 3! Moreover the extra points from a 2nd win could have a lot of pressure on his rivals and provided an important psychological boost at a crucial time, would could have seen Seb win the inaugural BRDC F4 championship. Even so 2nd in the overall standings is a considerable acheveiment in the circumstances!

A statement on the BRDC F4 website says "Seb Morris' exclusion from his race win at Snetterton has been overturned by the Motor Sports Council after his Hillspeed team lodged an eligibility appeal with the governing body.Morris was originally excluded from the results of the race after the dimensions of his gurney flap were found not to meet technical regulations. However the court hearing overturned the decision, meaning Morris is re-credited with his race victory. This has the direct effect of elevating him to second in the final championship standings above Charlie Robertson'" The  amended race result is shown  on  Morris' Snetterton victory reinstated

Actually all the points totals have been amended, so Jake Hughes' winning margin has shortened, and it could have been even smaller if Seb had not had a puntcure in race 2 and if he had not been pushed into a spin by an over ambitous move by Jack Barlow in the final race of the year!

BRDC Formula 4 Championship after 24 rounds

1st Jake Hughes (Lanan Racing) 445 points

2nd Seb Morris (Hillspeed)  410 pts

3rd Charlie Robertson (HHC Motorsport) 396 pts
