Jann the Man scoops double Enduro podiums!
Jann & Lucas at Spa
Jann
Mardenborough,
from Cardiff, who having won the Playstation Nissan Academy,
transferred his computer talent to the track via the Welsh
Sports & Saloon Car Championship in 2010 and stepped up a level
in 2013, competing as a rookie at the 24 hours of Le Mans.
Alongside Jan for the race were
Lucas Ordonez* and Michael Krumm, but unlike his co-drivers the
Welshman was stepping into new territory competing in a Le Mans
Prototype 2 car (LMP2) for the first time.
21 year old Jann stunned everyone
with his pace in qualifying, setting faster times than his more
experienced team mates. That meant he’d have the pressure of
starting the race for the team on
board the Greaves Motorsport Zytek-Nissan.
They completed
the grueling
24 hour race in 10th overall and 4th
in Class,
after a night long battle for the podium with a first timer Jan
doing the lion’s share of the driving too, was
well worth a round of applause, but in the morning they found
themselves with an unexpected trophy as the third place
finishing G-Drive Racing Oreca-Nissan has been excluded from the
official results following a technical infringement regarding an
oversized fuel tank.
This moved Jann, Lucas
and Michael up to the final step of the LMP2 podium and 9th
overall, and they backed it up
when Ordonez and Mardenborough were
part of the team that took 3rd place in the Pro-Am
class in the Spa 24 Hours brining the
Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 to the chequered flag in seventh place
overall!
* Lucas also competed in Welsh
Sports & Saloon Car Championship as part of his graduation from
the Playstation Nissan Academy
