WRDA member Andy Meyrick,
who is establishing himself
as one of the most versitlie
drivers in Endurance racing,
heads to the fifth round of
the American Le Mans Series
(ALMS), the Grand Prix of
Mosport at the Canadian Tire
Motorsport Park near
Ontario, this weekend,
looking forward to racing
the “dramatically improved”
DeltaWing charger just two
weeks after its second
consecutive ALMS P1 podium.
The 27-year old from Chester
completed what he called the
car’s “best stint yet” at
the last round of
championship at Lime Rock
Park near New York and
commended the team for how
it had “dramatically
improved the car”, making it
more responsive and getting
the most out of the new
Bridgestone tyres.
“If we can pick up where we
left off before the small
issue forced us to retire
from Lime Rock, we’re going
to have a good race,”
explains Meyrick. “We knew
that this year would see us
improve the car race-on-race
but the trajectory of
development has suddenly
rocketed.
“I’m really happy with the
team and I know they’ll take
the necessary steps in this
short turnaround to Mosport.
It’s tough, but that is the
beauty of the ALMS, that we
leave a tight, twisty
circuit like Lime Rock and
go to somewhere like Mosport
two weeks later.”
The Canadian Tire Motorsport
Park, otherwise known as
Mosport, is a 2.5-mile
circuit with 10 fast and
flowing corners, which Andy
believes will suit the
lightweight Elan-engined
DeltaWing Racing Car. “It
seems like a push/pull sort
of circuit, very fast, so it
should be well suited to the
DeltaWing. I think the
things we learned in our
testing should have us well
placed here.”
The Grand Prix of Mosport
takes place this weekend
(19-21 July) with qualifying
starting at 1530hrs on
Saturday 20th July and the
green flag for the race
flying at midday on Sunday
21 July. To follow Andy’s
