Welsh teams & drivers to the fore at Brands Hatch in the F3/GT package on 23/24 June.
In the Cooper Tires British F3 Series, Hwyel Lloyd was on hand as Team Manager of the CF Racing team, as the young Chinese driver Adderley Fong blitzed the National Class with an almost perfect score of 3 poles, 3 wins and 2 fastest laps! "It was a good weekend, Adderley did a good job fair play." Speaking in relation to his new role Hywel commented " Yes it's not too bad, I miss the racing a bit, but it was nice to be able to bring a different opinion into the team and nice to be able to give some feedback during the races". Fong is now 3rd in the Rookie Class, and the CF team will do at least the next two races at Spa in Belgium & Snetterton in Norfolk.
In the Avon Tyres British GT Championship, Jann Mardenbough, Jake Rattenbury & Dom Evans (the 2011 Welsh Sports & Saloon Car Champion) were all promenennt.
Jan (who raced with us at Pembrey as part of his Playstation/Nissan Academy training) took Bob Nevilles RJN Nissan GTR GT3 to an overall win in the 2 hour long feature race, with his partner, the highly experienced Johnathon Buncombe, in addition to a 2nd place in the warm-up race. Both Jann & Jothanon are now joint 3rd in the championship standings.
Also in GT3 Jake & his partner driver Ian Stinton, driving a Ginneta G55 was 3rd in the warm-up race, but sadly retired from the main race after an on track incident with another car, forced them out with a damaged car!
Dom Evans, driving a Ginneta G50 in the GT4 Class was less fortunate and was 21st out of 24 in the 1 hour warm-up race and 16th out of 18 finishers in the main race, but is 4th in the GT4 standings.
Nice to see former members, competitors & champions doing well
