Meyrick scores podium finish on
his Porsche Carrera Cup GB debut!
WRDA member Andy Meyrick, made a very
positive mark in his first two Porsche Carrera Cup GB races this
weekend at Snetterton, Norfolk. The LINDBERG-supported driver
recorded a podium and fourth place finishes on his debut in the
highly competitive racing arena, and is already midway up the
points table. Wearing the colours of the Danish luxury eyewear
designers and manufacturers, Andy was racing a Team Parking
Racing-prepared Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car in the Pro category of
the series and was anticipating a fierce battle amongst the
experienced and established field.
The 26-year-old showed he meant business
from the outset by qualifying third and fourth for the two races
over the weekend. In fact, he held pole position until the last
minute of the session when he was just headed by two other
drivers. In perfect racing conditions Andy took to
the track against some far more practiced Porsche Carrera Cup GB
drivers but gave no quarter and, in relatively uneventful races
for him, he brought his car home in third and fourth places.
“It
was good fun being in the series and I reckon I made a good
start,” said Andy.
“I will take a lot from this weekend and can't wait to get to
Knockhill. To get a podium straight away is
something I’m really happy with and it was a great boost for
both the team and LINDBERG.”
The next round of the Porsche Carrera Cup
will be at Knockhill Racing Circuit Dunfermline, Scotland on
25/26th August.
