Wenvoe racer Jake Rattenbury has been busy in between GT races testing a Ginetta G50 with the Century Motorsport team, at the Spa Francorchamps circuit in Belgium, which will help him to get ready for the races at the circuit in July in the British GT championship.

He has now also been signed up to drive another Ginetta G50 at the FIA GT meeting at Silverstone on June 4th/5th with Henry Taylor in the European GT4 championship.

I had never been on the track before so I was extremely excited to finally drive such a famous track. First of all I was just getting used to the track, and I found the track very challenging at first but very fun. It was a very successful day in all, and I got a lot of data and track time. So all in all a brilliant day for me and Josh Wakefield (co-driver). We were both pushing each other really hard which is good. I find it better if we push each other, as we both strive to be faster than the other which is great for us. But all in all a great day out in the car."

After the late news on Monday was that he had been signed to compete in the European GT4 championship this coming weekend, again in a Ginetta G50, this time with Henry Taylor, he said "Very excited about making the step to European GT4. We have a strong team out with Henry and myself so we will definitely be going for the win! Been working extremely hard on my fitness ready for the weekend so it's going to be good !"

After the Silverstone FIA GT European races this weekend Rattenbury will next be competing in the British GT rounds at Brands Hatch on June 18/19

Information

The GT4 European Cup is a sports car championship created and organized by the Stéphane Ratel Organisation (SRO) and sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). It is an amateur championship which follows a formula similar to the FIA GT3 European Championship, which is itself derived from the FIA GT Championship which uses the GT1 and GT2 classes. The GT4 class cars are the least powerful of the four classes, yet are equalized in order to allow amateur driving skill to become key.

The Avon Tyres British GT Championship (previously known as the BRDC GT Championship) is a sports car racing series currently based in the United Kingdom, although they have had select races outside of Britain in the past few years. The series was created by the British Racing Drivers' Club in 1993 and for its first two seasons was called the National Sports GT Challenge. The series is currently run by the Stéphane Ratel Organisation in conjunction with the British Formula Three Championship, and sponsored by Avon Tyres.

As part of the evolution of the series, the GT3 class of cars were introduced in 2005. This class later became identical to the FIA GT3 European Championship class, using nearly identical rules from 2006 onward. Due to the cost-saving measures in the class, the faster GT2 class was phased out at the end of 2006. The new FIA GT4 class will be adapted in 2008, replacing the unique GTC class that had previously been used. For 2011, the GT4 category amalgamates GT4-homologated cars and Supersport-type machines.
