Zhuhai, 13 November 2011. Aston Martin Racings 2011 season drew to a close at the Six Hours of Zhuhai when drivers Andy Meyrick, Stefan Mücke (D) and Harold Primat (CH) brought the 6 litre V12 DBR1-2 007 home in 6th place.

The race was the final event in Intercontinental Le Mans Cup which will be replaced next year by the new World Endurance Racing Championship. However the result wraps up a late season run of good results for Aston Martins year old MLMP1 car which won the American Le Mans Series qualifier at Laguna Seca in September and finished third overall at Petit Le Mans in Atlanta, in October. The DBR1-2, shares its base 6.0-litre engine, including the cylinder block and heads, with Aston Martin's V12-powered road cars, but it was no match on this occasion for the diesel powered cars and diesel powered Peugeots finished 1st & 2nd with an Audi diesel powered car in 3rd place after an exciting duel between the French & German cars. The winning car was driven by British driver Anthony Davidson and Frenchman Sébastien Bourdais.
Aston Martin Racing Team Principal Howard-Chappell admitted "We had hopes of winning the petrol category this weekend, but ultimately our car wasn't suited to the nature of the Zhuhai circuit. We know that the DBR1-2 and our drivers are capable of winning though. Andy, Stefan, and Harold have been strong all weekend, and the car and team performed well to top off a successful latter part of the 2011 season."
Aston Martin Racing will now switch its attention to next years campaign. The team will confirm its programme for the 2012 season in due course.
