Jake Rattenbury nets double podium in
Pembrey Young Guns & in Vie de Vie Cup at Pau
Jake Rattenbury, Ken & Jackies' son, who has been making some big strides in
the European Formula Renault races, having scored a pair of 3rd place and a 5th in the Vie
de vie races at Pau in the of South of France, near the Pyrenees, got a suprise
invitation to join in the Autosport Young Guns single seater races at Pembrey as part of
the Pembrey 26/27 June - Dunlop Great & British Festival. Having been pitched in at
the deep end Jake was feeling his way in practice. 'It was a suprise and I didn't have a
good practice as my hair got into my eyes so I couldn't see properly!' However in the
races Jake soon found his feet and finished 4th in race 1 but then put in 2 sterling
drives to net two 3rd place in races 2 & 3, against the series regulars. Dad Ken
explained 'Jake hasn't had any karting experience and when he did the Ginetta Juniors last
year, he was up against a lot of guys with a lot of a karting behind them.' Moving to
single seaters has allowed Jake to show his skills, and although Karting experience is
useful, Andy Meyricks' F3 & Le Mans results has shown that it is not essential, and we
must hope that Jake can continue to prosper, and Ken & Jackie will keep us up to date
with his progress.
