Lloyd lines up another passing manouvre on his way through the pack to 5th place Corwen racer Hywel Lloyd scooped up some welcome points at Spa Francorchamps in Belgium on the weekend. Lloyd, who has had a slow start to the season, since moving up to the International Class in the Cooper Tyres British F3 International Championship, showed some better qualifying form on a circuit that suited his car and his Honda engine; to start race 1 in 4th place on the grid. However a startline incident put him into the pits, but luckily he only lost a few seconds changing a flat tyre, and was able to rejoin in 21st place, but in touch with the rest as the field was bunched up behind the safety car after other cars had collided at La Source, the notoriously tight first corner. Once the debris was cleared away Hwyel then put on one of his best ever drives to pull back up to 5th place, earning himself a very welcome 8 points in the process. "It was a massive improvement to qualify in 4th place, it was just a shame the incident happened but it was a nice race to come from so far back. Its been hard since we moved up to the International Class, but lets hope this is a turning point" The next race in Cooper Tyres British F3 International Championship is at Silverstone.
