2008 Lloyds TSB Insurance British Formula F3 Championship National Class |
Hywel Lloyd shakes down his National Class Dallara Honda at Pembrey. Andy Meyrick does some rus with Carlin.
Hywel and the CF Racing Team gave their new Dallara Honda
a shakedown at Pembrey today. With the car only completed on Sunday afternoon it was the first time
for the wheels to turn on a race track and after warming the engine Hywel ventured out for
a series of system tests before turning in some quicker laps as he sought to bed the car
in. Harry his father said 'It was the first time this car has run in this configuration,
as it had a Mercedes engine before. We still have a lot of time to go in the test, but its
good to have the car running' Harry and Hywel were helped by their friend
Eddie Davies, whose son Ashley will be doing the BARC Renault Championship after buying
Hywels Championship winning car. ( Eddie Davies runs a Hywels local Karting
track in North Wales).
Andy
Meyrick who will also be running in the National Class of the 2008 Lloyds TSB Insurance British Formula F3 Championship,
with Carlin Motorsport set the pace at the
Pembrey test day and talked to us about his career so far "I'm a bit of a late
starter, I havent done Karting so my first racing was in Formula Ford in 2006. I didn't do
much last year except for the Renault Winter series, and that went well, so we going to see
how Formula 3 goes" Andy was orginally from Swansea but now lives near
Chester.
Hywel was smiling as he got out from the car after
his first run, and was later able to lap within a few seconds of the National Class
pacesetter , despite having his Neil Brown tuned engine set to its lowest power setting.
