Andy Meyrick bounced back from his Monza disappointments with 2 dominant wins at a wet & windy Rockingham circuit over the Bank Holiday, to extend his championship lead in the 2008 British Formula 3 Championship National Class. Driving a Dallara car with a Mugen Honda engine, Meyrick was virtually uncatchable, taking maximum points by setting the fastest lap in each of the races. Afterwards Andy said "There were lots of positives to come out of Monza. I knew we could bounce back and we needed to get back to scoring some points. It was a rainy weekend but it was dry for Race 1 so we started on slicks. It started spitting rain in the last few laps so it was pretty difficult. I was still pushing hard, got onto the grass and lost a lot of time, but I still had 8 seconds lead over Al-Khalifi who was second. In the 2nd race it was wet and I was 5th overall, 34 seconds ahead of the next National Class driver. It was good to get back in the points again"

Meanwhile two hard won points finishes have helped secure Hywel Lloyd in 3rd place in the title race. Hywel confirmed "Rockingham is certainly a contrast to the glamour of Monza. It was not a bad weekend, but it didn’t quite go according to plan. I've only had a couple of tests here before and I've never driven at Rockingham in the wet before, even so we got a 4th and 5th. We still have a lot to do, but we certainly learnt a lot this weekend " However with only Andy Meyrick and Jay Bridger outscoring Hywel has retained his 3rd place in the National Class standings.

Meanwhile this remains an intensely busy period for the teams who will go direct from Rockingham to Thruxton near Andover for a test session on Wednesday, then its back to base and start preparing for Snetterton in 2 weeks time.

The next rounds in the 2008 British Formula 3 Championship is at Snetterton on June 6/7/8th

Points after 8 rounds

1st Andrew Meyrick 126 points, 2nd Jay Bridger 97 points, 3rd Hywel Lloyd 85 points

4th Stefan Wilson 55 points, 5th Steven Guerrero 50 points
