Dallara Honda

Hywel Lloyd confirmed his entry in the 2008 Lloyds TSB Insurance British Formula F3 Championship today as the team set out their plans for the forthcoming season, the first time in almost 20 years that a Welshman has raced in Formula 3. Following his double championship success in 2008 in BARC Formula Renault, the Corwen racer will be driving a Dallara Honda running on Avon Tyres in the National Class. Building on his success in 2007, the car will be run by the family run CF Team and speaking from the teams workshop in Corwen, dad Harry summed up "The cars are very similar, the principles are obviously the same, but the big difference in the cars is that, whilst in Formula Renault everything is restricted, on these cars you can make some of the parts to try and increase the performance. It makes it a more interesting challenge for the team."

Having had a brief test in the car Hywel was understandably enthusiastic "It was brilliant! Such a nice car to drive. There is probably about 50 more horsepower from the engine, so it’s not much quicker down the straight but there is so much more grip, it was really quick around the corners. Fortunately it seems to suit the same basic driving style, so I can carry on without making any dramatic changes, so that’s a good start. We’ve just painted in our own livery and although its only about 4 weeks to the first official test I cant wait to get in and go now!"
