Whale & Dolphin Watching Boat Trips

Silverstone International Circuit 25/8/2007

Tom Richardson headed the practice times on the Welsh Championships first ever race on the Silverstone International Circuit, not sure which one that is but its obviously a step-up from the club circuit normally used, and he was well clear of Alexis Cole who made it an all Nemesis front row. Third was Peter Williams ahead of Ginger Marshall. Leigh Parkes was 5th in his Nemesis, this time an RE97 version, with Keith Butcher 6th.

Thornton Mustard (in the library with the candlestick?) was a superb 7th in his Jaguar D Type, with John Hill & his Caterham Seven 8th (you couldn’t make that one up). The Knight Batteries-Jaguar Power runners coming before our own Andy Williams, who has had some battles recently, being hit at one end in one race and then being punted in the other end at the next race! Rhys Lloyd was mirred down with a whole bunch of Jags in 14th. Graham Cole didn’t make having not had time to repair the car or find another.

The race – 11 laps

When the lights changed Tom went into an immediate lead, and to prove his practice dominance was no fluke, he was over 3 seconds ahead of Alexis after the first lap and then he extended his lead at will, to finish 16 seconds clear at the end of the race. Similarly Alexis put some distance between himself and Ginger Marshall, with a fast starting Leigh Parks in 4th but under pressure from Peter Williams. Peter eventually leap-frogged Leigh and then Ginger to settle into 3rd place but Ginger kept him in sight and Leigh finished 5th the last unlapped runner.

In the Saloons Keith got off to one of the worst starts of the year, dropping to 14th, Rhys got ahead but 13th was unlucky for him and he became the races only DNF after 4 laps. Meanwhile Andrew had moved up to 8th initially then 7th before having a dice with John Hills Caterham, Colonel Mustards Jag, and the recovering Audi of Keith Butcher. Keith finished 7th leaving Andrew to fend off the Caterham in what looked to the closest dice of the race. The points after 10 rounds show  Keith continues to lead from Tony with Peter now 3rd overall. Only 5 points seperate Peter, Graham & Alexis in Class A. Rhys Lloyd leads Class B . Overall Class
