Richard Singletons revival continues at Donington Park
Richard Singletons revival in the 2007 Formula Renault UK Championship continued at Donington Park on the weekend, with a sparkling performance during Saturdays dry practice day, lining up 6th fastest for the first race and an impressive 2nd fastest for race 2!
However the weather changed overnight and Sundays first race was stopped after 4 laps with rivers of water running across the track in several places. Richard confirmed although he did maintain his 6th place."It was undriveable. The car was aquaplaning everywhere even though we were on wet tyres!" He did maintain his 6th place.
However by the time the second race was due to start the track had dried and the field lined up on slick tyres. However Richard found himself shuffled back to 5th place after the first corner. "I went into too deep, braked a little too late and lost out. I did manage to get a place back to get into 4th place before it started to rain again." With no time to change to wet tyres again the race was red flagged and full points awarded.
However with other drivers faring even worse, the points scored have moved Richard up to 5th place overall and 2nd in the Graduate Class only 30 points behind the leader Adam Christodoulou. The next races in the 2007 Formula Renault UK championship is on the 28/29th July at Snetterton in Norfolk
