Alan Jenkins gives a brief report on the Welsh round at Mallory & sends some nice pics (more to follow)

wrda_Mallory_041.jpg (60200 bytes)Jeff Davies won,  Dave Krayem was second only after Clive stopped 2 laps from the end on fire. after a good drive. Luckily not too much damage was done, Clive did think of driving into the lake??? LOL Poor Graham had a plug lead break in practice and another in the race leaving him on 3 cylinders, until that happened he was doing very well up to 3rd on the first lap.

Tony's report

Practice went OK for most, but Clive Hayes had drive shaft problems & Graham Cole electrics, but both managed to qualify despite their troubles. Jeff Davies came out on top with a magic 45.07. Two visitors were next followed by Dave Krayem, Richard Rozhon and Clive Hayes. Jon-paul followed by Huw Williams and Graham Cole to make the top ten.

The Race. The Racing proved to be very fast and furious causing a couple of incidents. Jeff Davies did not make a good start allowing Leigh Parkes shoot off into the lead. Ginger Marshall had a terrible start nearly causing mayhem but everybody missed him. A few laps in Pete Williams went into the gravel just before the start and finish line and was unable to restart. Jeff went into the lead where he remained to the finish. Dave caught Leigh Parkes and passed him, Clive was flying through the field getting fastest lap at the time and worked his way into second place. But two laps before the end he felt the car temperature rising! Yes it was on fire! A quick pull off and an even quicker exit from the car by Clive, fastest I've seen him move for a long time!

In the saloons Lee David ran into trouble from the start even on the line and a lap later pitted. (In practice it blew off a turbo pipe). Andy Williams cruised to another class win to keep his lead in the championship. Richard Hill managed to secure Class B win with a lucky move. Good old Adrian Chapman won his class now joint second place in the championship, how about that at seventy plus. Soon he will be joined by another car in his class, guess who? His son.

Jeff won best Radical, Anthony won best Rover, Clive with his excellent drive into second place followed by his misfortune was awarded Driver of the Day. Leigh Parkes our best Visitor. It was a lovely day weather wise and a good atmosphere.

Tony & Gill.

In the Championship, Andrew Williams maintained his points lead, whilst in Class A Richard Rhozon and Dave Krayem are tied on points, and they are not the only ones fighting for places. See you all at Pembrey on the weekend.
