Jason Davies - Welsh Comer Cadet Champion Jason Davies, Martin & Sue's boy, has been continuing with his karting development and won the Welsh Comer Kadet Championship at Llandow. Jason was also selected for the Welsh team in the British Karting Inter Nations races in Cumbria. One of the young drivers making a name for themselves in Karting this year is Jason Davies, Martin & Sues son, who has been competing in the Comer Cadet Class (Comer is name of the engine and is a 60 cc two stoke engine, as opposed to 160 cc 4 stroke in Honda Cadet Karts. Both give about the same power). Jason has been competing in the British Championship which was shortened after the new Brooklands track was not completed in time. After gaining useful experience Jason rounded off the season by entering for the Welsh Kart Championship at Llandow, which is run on a one day, winner take all format. With plenty of top drivers in the entry it was a high quality field. Proud dad Martin set the scene. "Nick Christofaro was on pole, Jason was second and Anthony Moss was 3rd. Anthony Moss has been in contention for the British Super One Championship and may well win depending on the results of a protest and appeal, but he is a top runner. Nick Christofaro lead into the first corner but understeered off on cold tryes and that let Moss into the lead. Jason and him then had a real ding-dong with Jason & Moss swapping places until Jason got by him in the closing laps and really defended well to take the championship. It was a really nice way to end the season" Jason's' triumph was in contrast to the Inter Nations cup in Cumbria, which ended in controversy. Sue commented "It was shame as the Welsh team were together and we had a nice atmosphere going on, but there was a dispute between the English and Irish teams and it all ended in a fight, so the organisers abandoned the meeting, which was a big shame" P.S If you have any news or interesting items please let us know contact Robert on 01792 791686 email wrda@ntlworld.com |
